Uno Card Box – Snaplock

Uno Card Snaplock Box

Overview

This UNO snaplock storage box is a neat solution for keeping cards secure and protected. The model uses a robust hinge-free snap mechanism and prints cleanly with AMS-enabled multi-colour layers. The final result feels like a commercial-grade case and is far more durable than the cardboard packaging UNO traditionally comes in.

Model information

Model: UNO Card Box — Snaplock
Designer: mteomarch (adapted from an original design by Hugo)
Source: MakerWorld listing

The designer adapted the original parametric model to add improved edges, fillets and details. It requires no screws, wires or additional hardware. Everything prints in place using standard PLA.

Filament used

Colours: Red PLA, Yellow PLA, Black PLA, White PLA
Filament type: PLA
Why: These match the classic UNO colours and allow the AMS to create a clean multi-layer lid logo.

The print requires AMS or manual filament swaps for the multi-colour lid. AMS gives the cleanest result.

Printer and settings

  • Printer: Bambu Lab A1
  • Nozzle: 0.4 mm
  • Plate: Textured PEI
  • Layer height: 0.20 mm standard
  • Infill: 15–20 percent (default is fine)
  • Supports: Not required
  • Filament changes: Automatic with AMS, or manual swaps during lid logo layers

The snaplock mechanism prints in place and functions immediately without cleanup. The hinges and clips benefit from good cooling and a steady extrusion flow.

Slicing notes

  • Orientation: Box printed upright; lid printed face-up.
  • AMS: Enables clean colour transitions in the lid logo.
  • Tolerances: Designed for standard PLA shrink and expansion.
  • Cooling: Full cooling recommended to sharpen corners and clip geometry.

The model is optimised for PLA and prints reliably with default profiles. Alignment of the multi-colour lid artwork is handled by MakerWorld’s profile.

Print time and material usage

Using the A1 and multi-colour AMS setup:

  • Print time: approximately 4–6 hours
  • Material usage: about 60–80 grams total across all colours
  • Estimated cost: around £1.50–£2.00 per box

Results

The final print feels sturdy and professional. The lid artwork comes out crisp with AMS multi-colour layers, and the snaplocks work reliably without tuning. The interior has space for a full UNO deck, and the compact form factor makes it ideal for travel or family use.

What I would change next time

  • Try a matte PLA for the box body to give a more premium look.
  • Create a custom insert to keep cards more tightly packed.
